We’ve received a lot of demand for a Search Tool and a way for users to manage duplicates. Both made it to the new online version of the PleaseFixtheiPhone site. Check it out!

Also pretty cool, a Fortune/CNN.com article that compares the new features in the 2.2 iPhone Software Update about to be released by Apple and the Most Wanted wishes on the PleaseFixtheiPhone site!

Hey Steve, Please Fix the iPhone!

Hey Steve, we love the iPhone and everyone (or almost) at Fullsix has one. Over a year ago, when the awesome device hit the shelves, we were already converts, imagining the impact of making the internet accessible 24/7, always in our pocket. Despite the fact that the iPhone introduction totally redefined the mobile phone industry forever, the iPhone is broken and we want it fixed!

We hear that over 10 million iPhones have been sold, and the iPhone 3G is now the second best-selling mobile phone in the US, so now more than ever we think Apple needs to address the glaring issues that frustrate us all every single day, especially when the Google Android G1 phone has started shipping and has over 1.5 million pre-orders at last count.

That is why the team at FullSIX decided to create Please Fix the iPhone. We fanatically adore and obsess about our iPhone, but why can’t we copy and paste, hide unwanted icons, or record video? C’mon Apple, please grant our wishes!

Please Fix the iPhone gives a collective voice to those that want to smash their iPhone into a wall when it is impossible to do simple and intuitive tasks that we have all been doing for years on other phones. The site was the natural result of FullSIX’s fascination with the iPhone and our desire to build innovative sites that provide added value and an immersive experience for users, not to mention an excuse to spend even more time playing with our phones! Now anyone is free to go to the Please Fix the iPhone site and vote on problems that need to be fixed, or even add new wishes to be addressed, and to see all the wishes that Apple has granted. Every vote counts, so rally around the site, vent your frustrations and make your vote heard.

The best part of Please Fix the iPhone is that the site has an iPhone-optimized version, so that you can use your phone to vote and submit wishes on-the-go! Oh, and don’t forget to add our gorgeous icon on your homescreen to access the newest wishes in a quick tap, check how many people voted on yours, or a new wish.

We started developing iPhone sites at the Fullsix New York office for the launch of BIC’s new headsets, Coosh. The m-commerce site also features product info, video content, and iPhone wallpapers. We loved working on the mobile platform, but encountered so many frustrating things that we were compelled to build Please Fix the iPhone next.

iphone-screenshot.jpg

The Please Fix the iPhone site isn’t just for Apple since a lot of third party apps are responsible for little glitches and problems. Some of favorite apps like Facebook and Yelp have issues that many users would like to see addressed. Fans out there can also contribute wishes to app developers in the hope that we are all making the world a better place, one bug fix at a time.

At The Trendwatch we are keenly following the recent trend of customer driven feedback and product development. There have been some very powerful and focused sites that have been embraced by both customers and brands, such as Get Satisfaction, Dell’s IdeaStorm, and My Starbucks Idea that are changing the face of brand/customer interaction. We applaud this customer service revolution and love how the internet is again changing the consumer landscape. We recommend that any companies out there jump on this trend with great passion and take the opportunity to engage directly with customers.

We hope that Steve and app developers are listening, and that, software update after software update we can all make a difference and help to fix the iPhone.

No breaking news here. What’s interesting is to see that they won’t take their peers’ reviews into account if there are only few. Less than 4 opinions and 68% of your consumers probably won’t buy your product. So if you’re managing an ecommerce website, make sure that you make the commenting/reviewing process as smooth as possible. I can’t wait to share with you the way we’re currently developing it for the new Kiehl’s site, that we’re gonna launch this fall. More info very soon.

Well, not exactly now, but sometimes this fall. I know one of my client who’s gonna freak out.

PS: Illustration above not super accurate since it’s just a Photoshopped screenshot of a Facebook Fan page Fullsix US realized for L’Oréal Professionnel, that I roughly pasted into an iPhone. Just an excuse for a bit of self-promotion: we’re pretty good at developing Facebook applications so if you need one or if you want to develop an advanced Fan page but don’t really know how to, drop us a line!

dell regeneration campaign

In my last post, I talked about the dangers of user-generated content and asked you how you felt about UGC and how we should use it. Your replies allowed me to dig deeper into this subject.

There have been quite a few sucessfull UserGeneratedContent campaigns these last few years, and the first lesson I learned is that each UGC campaign is a different experience.

In case you have been hiding all day, Microsoft licenses Flash Lite ; Apple says no thanks

iPhone and Windows Mobile phone

Since last october and the annoucement of Flash Lite 3 by Adobe, there has been a lot of buzz around this new technology and what it means for mobile web.

Flash Lite’s main challenge is to reach a critical percentage of device coverage … over half a billion devices shipped so far, thanks. More important is the future: Will Flash Lite reach the same level of ubiquity it has on the web today?

Last week a joint announcement made by Adobe and Microsoft that Flash Lite will be integrated into Windows Mobile is a major step forward.

On Apple’s side, things are more confused …

Steve Jobs said two weeks ago that Flash is not the right solution for the iPhone. The Adobe CEO announced last week that they would start working on it themselves … and changed his statement a few hours later because Apple’s SDK license will not allow them to distribute a Flash Lite plugin for the iPhone.

A battle is raging, and there is so much buzz going on that it seems pretty likely that Flash (or Flash Lite) will make it on the iPhone soon.

With or without Apple, Flash Lite will change the mobile web, and mobile advertising. New ad-formats are being prepared and will be launched in Europe before this summer. They use Flash Lite to provide full-screen interstitials ads and sponsored mobile videos. Expect more from us soon…

We Love Our Job #1: Eurostar’s New London

Since last week, the Eurostar train’s journey from the center of Paris to the center of London only takes 2 hours and 15 minutes at an average speed of 218 km/h (compare with the fastest train here in the US, the Acela that connects Washington to NY and Boston at an average speed of 129 km/h). Passengers traveling from the continent now arrive in Saint Pancras International station, a spectacular and grandiose station in the heart of blooming neighborhoods, supplanting Waterloo as the Eurostar terminus in London.

The passenger’s experience is gonna be greatly modified, allowing the discovery of a new London on arrival, giving the brand a great opportunity to offer its customers their alternative vision on the British capital. Through the New London interactive platform developed by FullSIX in partnership with Media:edge CIA, LEG, Kabo Productions and Milk, Eurostar reaffirms itself as the ultimate destination guide on top of its primary transportation mission.

Launched on October 29th, the New London site features the YPEs, for Your Personal Experts, each of them sharing in an interactive and personalized map their favorite addresses related to their own field (shopping, business, art, clubbing…).

And every Thursday during 2 hours, those same experts will video-chat live with users who registered on the site, wandering in the streets of London with their video-phone in hands. I can assure you that the complex technology behind those live broadcasts costed few sleepless nights to the FullSIX/BBC team. The first session last week was tons of excitement so make sure you tune in for the next one this Thursday at 3PM (Paris time)!

The other half of the New London platform is a set of 9 different shows, running from 1:30 to 3 minutes, offering the twisted Eurostar’s insight on the city, with new episodes posted every 2 to 7 days. A concentration of everything innovative and stunning, different, new and trendy in London. Check out the hilarious Julie testing the veracity of “Her Majesty’s subjects” most infamous stereotypes, or take an online British cuisine lesson (yes, I know, it sounds weird). Don’t miss my personal favorite, the amazing Take Away Shows by the Blogotheque’s team that moved for the occasion their interview/concerts sessions with indie bands from Parisian streets to the London lanes.

The site attracted an impressive 250,000 unique visitors in 3 weeks. So dear dear Londoners, please forgive us in advance for all the French tourists that are going to cross the Channel because of all the above-mentioned…
