FullSIX New York is looking for a PR person/agency/boutique

We’ve been on the hunt in the past few months for a team to help us promote our work in the US. Could be a freelancer, a small team, or a mid-sized PR agency; we don’t have a preference, we just want “you” to share our love for neatly-crafted consumer experiences and have a pretty good knowledge of the US interactive marketing communications industry.

The brief:
- increase FullSIX brand recognition in the US market,
- grab the media’s attention,
- generate new business leads,
- expand our client portfolio,
- help us demonstrate that we’re an awesome company to work with and for.

To make this task even more fun, we are launching a few extremely interesting and innovative multi-channel campaigns for clients like Club Med, Kiehl’s, Sprite, and BIC over the next few months. And did I mention our baby PleaseFixtheiPhone is a Finalist at the SxSW Web Awards in Austin in the Mobile category?

Finally, we need to move super fast, like, starting next Monday.

If you think that you could be the person/team/agency you’re looking for, please drop me a line: peyre @ fullsix . com for more details.

Also, if you know anyone to recommend, please send me their details or give them mine. Thanks in advance.

Hey Steve, Please Fix the iPhone!

Hey Steve, we love the iPhone and everyone (or almost) at Fullsix has one. Over a year ago, when the awesome device hit the shelves, we were already converts, imagining the impact of making the internet accessible 24/7, always in our pocket. Despite the fact that the iPhone introduction totally redefined the mobile phone industry forever, the iPhone is broken and we want it fixed!

We hear that over 10 million iPhones have been sold, and the iPhone 3G is now the second best-selling mobile phone in the US, so now more than ever we think Apple needs to address the glaring issues that frustrate us all every single day, especially when the Google Android G1 phone has started shipping and has over 1.5 million pre-orders at last count.

That is why the team at FullSIX decided to create Please Fix the iPhone. We fanatically adore and obsess about our iPhone, but why can’t we copy and paste, hide unwanted icons, or record video? C’mon Apple, please grant our wishes!

Please Fix the iPhone gives a collective voice to those that want to smash their iPhone into a wall when it is impossible to do simple and intuitive tasks that we have all been doing for years on other phones. The site was the natural result of FullSIX’s fascination with the iPhone and our desire to build innovative sites that provide added value and an immersive experience for users, not to mention an excuse to spend even more time playing with our phones! Now anyone is free to go to the Please Fix the iPhone site and vote on problems that need to be fixed, or even add new wishes to be addressed, and to see all the wishes that Apple has granted. Every vote counts, so rally around the site, vent your frustrations and make your vote heard.

The best part of Please Fix the iPhone is that the site has an iPhone-optimized version, so that you can use your phone to vote and submit wishes on-the-go! Oh, and don’t forget to add our gorgeous icon on your homescreen to access the newest wishes in a quick tap, check how many people voted on yours, or a new wish.

We started developing iPhone sites at the Fullsix New York office for the launch of BIC’s new headsets, Coosh. The m-commerce site also features product info, video content, and iPhone wallpapers. We loved working on the mobile platform, but encountered so many frustrating things that we were compelled to build Please Fix the iPhone next.

The Please Fix the iPhone site isn’t just for Apple since a lot of third party apps are responsible for little glitches and problems. Some of favorite apps like Facebook and Yelp have issues that many users would like to see addressed. Fans out there can also contribute wishes to app developers in the hope that we are all making the world a better place, one bug fix at a time.

At The Trendwatch we are keenly following the recent trend of customer driven feedback and product development. There have been some very powerful and focused sites that have been embraced by both customers and brands, such as Get Satisfaction, Dell’s IdeaStorm, and My Starbucks Idea that are changing the face of brand/customer interaction. We applaud this customer service revolution and love how the internet is again changing the consumer landscape. We recommend that any companies out there jump on this trend with great passion and take the opportunity to engage directly with customers.

We hope that Steve and app developers are listening, and that, software update after software update we can all make a difference and help to fix the iPhone.

Pretty neat set of banners for the Sex and the City movie. Simulated 3D effects and micro-site feel. In case you’re not overwhelmed yet by Carrie and her desperate crew. Too bad the site itself sucks bad time.

(Achtung: Some banners in the sets are really lame, I’m talking about the ones with the NY skyline made of B&W pics)

Nokia has recently released a campaign against the IPhone focused on its blocking system. And this isn’t the first time Nokia has attacked Apple in such a direct way. Two thoughts come to hand at the same time:

1 – Isn’t it just a little too aggressive to create a campaign that focus on flaws from competitors instead of just showing that your can do better?

2 – Is society tech-informed enough to process and understand this sort of advertisement? I mean, my mother surely doesn’t know what an IPhone is, let alone about its blocking system.

Has Society crossed the gap created by the steep evolution of gadgets and technology, enabling more the 50% of users to understand techie references such as this Nokia campaign? Or is it a campaign target specifically at techies? If so, would this work in any other city besides New York?

In any case, I think it’s just bad for a brand like Nokia, who has such a high Brand Affinity and Brand Awareness rates, to resort to direct war. Couldn’t they have just done another Nokia Game instead?

Consider this graphic a basic guide of whats going on in “Artsy” Brooklyn these days. Clockwise from top left:

  • Macbook. As seen in coffee shops everywhere.
  • Aviator Glasses. As seen in the movie Top Gun.
  • Flannel. Made famous by Kurt Cobain circa 1992.
  • Prada Eyewear. As seen on the L-train commute.
  • Bianchi Pista. Fixies are less a trend for the band of hardworking bike messengers.
  • Mac and Cheese. Hands down an American favorite.
  • Sparks. Think of it as orange soda laced with moonshine.
  • Vans. Never out of style. Slip-ons for playtime.
  • Cheap Monday. Ladies: Tight jeans are the way to a man’s heart
  • Swing Jacket. They’re not everywhere yet but on their way.
  • M.I.A. Music that goes well with tight jeans.
  • Country. Works well with whiskey. And whiskey works with anything.
  • Budweiser. Another American classic. Goodbye PBR.
  • Americano. (to go!) Notice a trend in “Americana”? Me too.
  • Pirate boots. We’ll see about this last one. But ladies love their boots.

There. You got a quick visual taste and look at what our big city has to offer. Its OK to recycle!

THE FUTURE OWNS US.

I know the blog is called TRENDWATCH and not PHONETECHWATCH but be still folks. This is important stuff. A special little informational treat about your future I’m writing about today. This one goes out to all the peeps who obey their shiny new internets communication devices and yearn for more.

I’d like to introduce to you 4G. But before I do I’m going to make a quick attempt at clearing the smoke and haze of confusion that has quietly permeated your head as soon as you began reading this paragraph:

We’ll start with the networks used today and how they measure up:

Your AT&T, T-Mobile, O2, Orange, et al.

Your Sprint, Verizon, Vodafone, et al.

  • CDMA = 3G = FAST
  • EV-DO (Rev. A, B) = 3G = A LITTLE FASTER

So, what’s next?

T-Mobile’s Hotspot@Home and Sprint’s planned roll out of WiMax in NYC and a few other insignificant cities at the end of the year has probably stirred Verizon enough into looking at Vodafone’s LTE (long term evolution) technology for a 4G network.

If you were wondering, a “G” is a unit of speed based on the amount of time it takes for an “LOL” to travel 4 timezones. Kidding. I actually have no idea but it sort of makes it easier to understand, yeah?

iPhone. So the point of this little note is to let you know that in a year or two — those willing to pay — are gonna be sending drunk pictures to their friends even faster!

Really though, if you think web 2.0 is getting out of control now, just wait. Maybe we’ll all be wearing holographic emoticon charms that change based on our real emoticonal status and emit a wireless signal received by WiTooth headphones that read your friends’ Facebook status to you in real time.

I seriously cannot wait!
