What’s lighter than a Puma Lift shoe?

I usually click away from sites in Flash, but that one…

Discover the universe of 26000 Vodka with a pretty neat 3D interface. Great brand experience. As spotted on The FWA.

I’ve stumbled upon this only recently and even though it’s been around for a while (a while at the internet scale being 1 year), I still wanted to share it with you. Play the video below; pan around sideways, upwards, downwards, zoom in, zoom out while the action keeps rolling.

Imagine if this technology becomes reality one day; I’m scared already by Watchmen #4, scrutinizing Dr Manhattan’s impressive attributes from every single angle possible.

Not exactly a new site, but since it seems to be my Flash Week, have a look at Spectrum, a pretty sexy way to read the news. Select the categories you want to read about, save articles, change the appearance of the animations… Pretty inspiring.

And now, I can go back to my “Flash is repulsive” attitude.

After Orange’s success story, Vodafone’s Music Unlimited allow you to browse music-related content with a pretty playful interface. I usually hate Flash but, you know, sometimes…

The Internet is listening: Netflix will keep profiles up. Why did they even want to take them down in the first place when every single site tries to become a social network?

One day, someone smart in an ad agency will use the Image Fulgurator for one of their client and receive a Cannes Lion. As described by Mr Kottke:

The Image Fulgurator is an ingenious device that detects the flash from nearby cameras and quickly inserts a message onto whatever is being photographed so that it shows up in any photos being taken.

And finally, a useful information today: Google has been developing a new algorithm for indexing textual content in Flash files of all kinds, from Flash menus, buttons and banners, to self-contained Flash websites. At last, your flash micro-sites won’t be ignored by the giant crawler!

In case you have been hiding all day, Microsoft licenses Flash Lite ; Apple says no thanks

iPhone and Windows Mobile phone

Since last october and the annoucement of Flash Lite 3 by Adobe, there has been a lot of buzz around this new technology and what it means for mobile web.

Flash Lite’s main challenge is to reach a critical percentage of device coverage … over half a billion devices shipped so far, thanks. More important is the future: Will Flash Lite reach the same level of ubiquity it has on the web today?

Last week a joint announcement made by Adobe and Microsoft that Flash Lite will be integrated into Windows Mobile is a major step forward.

On Apple’s side, things are more confused …

Steve Jobs said two weeks ago that Flash is not the right solution for the iPhone. The Adobe CEO announced last week that they would start working on it themselves … and changed his statement a few hours later because Apple’s SDK license will not allow them to distribute a Flash Lite plugin for the iPhone.

A battle is raging, and there is so much buzz going on that it seems pretty likely that Flash (or Flash Lite) will make it on the iPhone soon.

With or without Apple, Flash Lite will change the mobile web, and mobile advertising. New ad-formats are being prepared and will be launched in Europe before this summer. They use Flash Lite to provide full-screen interstitials ads and sponsored mobile videos. Expect more from us soon…

I WISH I HAD DIRECTED THEM

I barely see any TV these days… there’s so much more interesting stuff online, and the quality of the content keeps getting better and better, thanks to streaming DivX for instance.

There is also top quality multimedia content available exclusively online… the 2 websites I present bellow are a perfect example of that.
I wish I had directed the movies and animations in them, but I just don’t have the skills and the talent. I don’t know how to film. I can’t draw. I can’t do Flash.

I’m a New Media Consultant and my game is communication strategies, numbers, Return-On-Investment… But I wish I could create beautiful things too.

What the heck… at least I have the sensibility to recognize good stuff when I see it and I’m the best at finding it.
I guess I’m somewhere in the Long Tail. But wait… doesn’t that make me a part of the creative process too? I have a role after all!

I hope you enjoy these as much as I did. I know I enjoyed sharing them with you.

Red Bull Flugtag Flight Lab (I wish I had designed it)

More Papervision 3D love! An impressive site developed for Red Bull using this technology. Step 1: create the fuselage of your plane, choosing the best material and designing the most aerodynamic shapes. Step 2: Play with brushes and collage to personalize it. Step 3: the Crash-Test. Fly your plane above the water, and cover as much distance as possible, collecting cans of Red Bull to refuel, showing-off some acrobatic maneuvers and avoiding obstacles and crosswinds.

When done, you can park your aircraft in the hangar, and fine-tune it before taking it on another bumpy ride. Oh and it’s been voted Site of the Month at FWA.

Facebook Pages for Brands, now with potential usefulness and real awesomeness!

Edgard and I are happy kids today. We’ve been raving for month about the ruined potential of the Facebook Pages as a marketing tool, because of its rigid structure (hard to match a brand’s look and feel), lack of openness (all the elements had to be developed as Facebook apps) and interactivity (no user upload allowed), a paradox for a social platform!

Every time we came up with an idea that would be fun and useful for both the consumers and one of our client, it would either be impossible to develop because of the technical constraints, or way too expensive, since we would have to develop numerous Facebook applications for a single page. So we eventually gave up on the idea.

Until this morning, when I noticed an Update in my Facebook inbox:

Facebook Pages have some new features available for you:

1. User Photo Uploads
Now, your fans will be able to upload photos to your Facebook Page…if you let them. Go to your Facebook Page and Edit on the Photos box to turn on this feature. All New Pages will have this feature pre-enabled upon creation.

2. Dynamic Content in the Profile Box
You can now replace the main picture on your Facebook Page with dynamic content using either the Flash or FBML applications. Just install either of these applicaitons (find them at www.facebook.com/facebookpages and then select the flash/fbml option when you choose to edit your profile picture.) (…)

Wow. All of the issues we had encountered, solved after one message. Your fans can upload pictures on your page, imagine all the possibilities… And no more need to develop Facebook applications using their proprietary language that only few master. And you can have Flash content!!! Dear dear you-know-who-you-are client, Edgard and I are back in the Facebook game, watch your inbox…
