It will definitely be more difficult to make the difference between real reality or fake reality in the few next month. Watch this other amazing example of « enhanced reality », thanks to a new techno of parallel tracking and mapping on live videos.
Imagine all the next applications we will have in stores, website etc… in the immediate future…
The problem with “Eco” is that it is usually seen in technology terms as a synonym for “Naff”. Nokia have taken steps to make us change our minds with the new Nokia 3110 Evolve.
It’s a piece of hardware that is made from 80% biosourced materials yet sacrifices none of the trademark Nokia nooks and crannies!
The “evolve” website also manages to convey and reinforce the message that biodegradability can be cool with matrix style exploding diagrams, showing us the phone with all its internal mechanisms laid bare.
The website’s point of entry is an invitation to explore the phone and one could argue that the way in which the site treats its user is as evolutionary as the hardware it is trying to advertise.
Have a play, get down with your bio side and evolve with the 3110!
The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual competition held among countries of the EU. Each country submits a song to be performed on live TV and then casts votes for the other countries’ songs to determine the most popular song in the competition. It is one of the numerous Song Contests with the difference that Eurovision had been around every year since 1956.
This year, with the claim “Save Eurovision” Spanish public TV has decided to take a fresh approach to the Spanish presence on the Song Contest and so they’ve decided to use MySpace to select this year’s Spanish candidate.
MySpace is the main social networking site used by emerging singers and groups to promote their music. And because of this they have decided to give the opportunity to these social talents who are more present on the web.
TVE director has said that “even though the Song Contest is still working well, they want to give it a new profile and open it to a wider participation”. I have to say that for me the festival has become really old fashion and I agree that by opening to the younger consumer will help to create hype. The MySpace group already has 243 candidates to be the next Eurovision singer and 1700 friends (huge participation compared to previous years when it was broadcast on TV). Having said this, the festival organisers will need to work on the event too and realise we are not in 1968 anymore.
The 5 most voted songs will go to the final election event broadcast by TVE on the 1st of March and the public will vote for their favourite via SMS and phone calls.
It’s a big step for traditional Spanish public TV to take this approach; there has been a lot of positive coverage on Spanish media, and it’s done a lot to their image.
Other countries have been doing that for 10 years, it’s Pop Idol, but I guess it’s a revolution for a traditional country like mine.
Mattel has teamed up with Hasbro to sue the creators of Scrabulous, one of Facebook’s most popular applications.
The two companies, which between them own the rights to the board game, claim that the online version developed by brothers Rajat and Jayant Agarwalla infringes their copyright. Hasbro asked Facebook to take down Scrabulous – which attracts over 600,000 daily users and gives the brothers $25,000 of advertising a month.
Why would you want to turn your fans into enemies? Why not just buy the company? Why not advertise the Scrabble board game on the Scrabulous pages?
The rush from the toy makers has definitely not helped, they’ve seemed to have forgotten a number of things:
1. There is such a thing as bad publicity.
2. Facebook Scrabulous users love the game, and they are angry for losing it. It is not likely that these people will buy Mattel/Habro toys for friends and relatives.
3. There already are more than 55,000 members in a Save Scrabulous Facebook Group and talk of boycott of Mattel and Hasbro
4. Realize that Scrabulous turns people on to Scrabble and other word games and creates opportunity for Mattel/Hasbro.
After reading about it for a while, this morning when I logged to Facebook, an extra layer in the layout opened, asking me if I wanted to move any of my 49 applications to an extended profile.
I have to say it’s easy and convenient; you decide the applications boxes that you want to keep or store, and your extended profile can be edited any time from your profile page.
How simple??? If only all things online could be this simple. Not wanting to go into a rant about complicated things, but I think Facebook have delivered that first building block of a solution to a problem, whereby if everything was approached in this way it would make the online world one of sheer ease.
I will try to adopt the Facebook “simplicity” model when proposing any online solution!
