We’re good at knowing where people are now (thanks Foursquare), but we’re bad at knowing where people are going to be. Plancast aims to change this.
Started in 2009, Plancast is the easiest way to share your upcoming plans with friends. While the platform is currently small and simple, it has big plans for the future. And if the idea catches on, future-focused social data could be a marketer’s dream:
Check-ins have dominated the conversation over the past year, and check-ins are great for what they are – but they have a certain limited value. If someone checks in somewhere across town, what are the chances you’re going to get up and hustle over there to join? You also have limited data — often you don’t know why they’re there. From an advertiser’s point of view, you have to grab their attention immediately. Whereas if you have intent, you have more time to give them an offer and have them consider that offer and act on it.” – Mark Hendrickson, founder of Plancast
While it may be too early to hatch a marketing plan for Plancast, it’s certainly a trend to watch…

Thanks for the post! Let us know if you have any feedback. We “are planning” to make the site even better. :)
FYI – Many companies (Ford, PayPal, Red Bull, National Geographic, etc) are already using Plancast to let fans know of their upcoming plans/events they’ll be going to.
