We talked about this already in August here, but a good reminder never hurts. Studies show that a vast majority of people do scroll down to read the content below what’s under the 600 pixels bar. Screens are getting bigger, so is their resolution, so the fold location is impossible to predict anyway.
According to a study by Clicktale:
- 91% of the page-views had a scroll-bar.
-
- 22% of the page-views with a scroll-bar, were scrolled all the way to the bottom.
The detailed results of the study can be found here, some design recommendation by Rod MacQuarrie around the fold issue here. And don’t hesitate to read or re-read the Homepage Design Class post published last Summer, I always use it as a checklist when i work on HP design.
