Google Earth, the world renowned interactive mapping program is undertaking a revolution in digital satellite imagery.
A couple of months ago, Digital Globe (provider of imagery for Google) launched WorldView I, a new high-resolution satellite that will boost the accuracy of its satellite images. This baby is able to scan 500.000 square kilometers per day and complete the Earth’s rotation in 1,7 days.
With the launch of WorldView II in 2008, Google expects to provide the ability to pinpoint objects on the Earth at a 3m to 7,5m range (or 10′ to 25′). More than 1 million square kilometers will be collected on a daily basis.
This is great news for brands interested in Google Earth Tattooing but also for everyone who frequently pops the typical morning-after-that-wild-party question: “Now where on Earth did I park my car last night?”
